About Zambia

Habitat for Humanity Zambia: (HFHZ)
Opened in 1984, when it started building houses with fishing families on Kabuyu Island. From these small beginnings, HFHZ has built more than 1,700 houses and expanded into six of the country’s nine provinces. HFH Zambia has also facilitated multiple development initiatives, especially in the Chanyanya community. The newest of the program’s affiliates is in the urban area of Tiyende Pamodzi, Lusaka. Zambia country profile:
Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia) is known for its friendly people, rich culture, and spectacular wildlife. It is landlocked, situated south of the Equator and shares boundaries with 8 other countries. With an estimated population of 11 million inhabitants, 25% live in the capital, Lusaka, which is considered one of the fastest-growing (in terms of population) cities in Africa.
Zambia is one of the least developed nations in the world. Unemployment and poverty are widespread and two thirds of the population lives on less than $1 USD a day. Diseases such as malaria and the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS compound the country's problems. Decent housing in urban areas remains unattainable and unaffordable for most people and slums abound. 60% of the population still lives in remote rural areas, where conditions are extremely poor and below standards.

More About Zambia
The Zambian soccer team (called football in Zambia) won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012, 19 years after it's national team perished in a plane crash.

The victory of The Chipolopolo was dedicated to the team that lost it's life in 1993.

There is not one child in Zambia that does not LOVE playing soccer! We'll be doing that at lunchtime with bunches of children that seem to just appear out of nowhere when they see a soccer ball!

Zambia has a population of close to 14 million. And Zambians can dance like no-one else!
